Aniek came into contact with the shelters in Cyprus because she herself adopted a dog from Cyprus. When she decided to adopt her dog​​ Whisper, she was kept informed about her dog ​​through photos and videos until Whisper would fly to the Netherlands.

Thanks to this adoption, her partner Edwin invited her to visit Cyprus. In Cyprus both Aniek and Edwin were shocked with the facts about the dogs and how they are treated, where they are found etc. In a word – Terrible!

The hunting dogs, Pointers etc. are simply shot and left by many hunters when they have no more value to them. Aniek became a part of the rescue and ever since she tries to rescued these dogs by finding them forever homes in the Netherlands. She is now the Organisation’s Director Representative.

In the meantime Aniek, Astrid and Miranda, the team of Humans for Humans CY-NL have built a fantastic team with many host families who do everything to give the dogs a chance in the Netherlands. And of course there are not only success stories.

Dogs need rehoming for various reasons. But in the end more than 1000 dogs have started a fantastic new life and we hope that many more will follow.
