Couple went into shelter to donate supplies, end up leaving with a 17-year-old dog nobody wanted

We have often heard for animal heroes that do their best to help them, Beth and Michael Clark couple is one of them, they keep sending blankets to shelters in winter to help them.

They went on a trip to Anne Arundel County Animal Control in December 2015, so they can donate blankets and supplies but returned home with something extra.

In this trip they made eye-contact with a sad 17 year old dog named Rocky, and they just couldn’t leave him behind.

“I saw this gray-faced, skinny dog and I said to my husband, ‘We’re getting him,’” Beth told Today “I was not about to leave that old man to die in a cage.”

“Rocky made our life very complete,” Beth told Today.

“He loved dancing with us and being near us … as the year went on, it got harder for him to climb the stairs and go on walks, so my husband would carry him up the stairs every night just so he could sleep next to us, and instead of walks we just sat outside in the sun together.”

The administrator at Anne Arundel County Animal Control, reported that more and more families are expressing the interest to adopt senior dogs.

“It takes a special family to open their heart and home to an animal that they may only get to have in their lives for a short period of time,” said Robin. “We do our best to make the animals as comfortable as possible in our care, however we know this can never replace a forever home.”

Beth found out she was pregnant and got so happy as she told for Today the more she went into pregnancy the gentle Rocky was behaving towards her, he became a huge support for the mom to be.

The couple got a unique idea to announce their pregnancy, making Rocky holding a sign that read, “Mom and Dad are getting me a human!”

But the lovely dog’s health started to fail when Beth reached 7 months pregnant, and they received the sad news that their lovely furry son may have a tumor.

When Michael and Beth came home with their baby girl, the cute dog sniffed her and put his head next to her, but his health was getting worse and the couple know they had to let the poor animal go.

“I called a vet and that night, he went peacefully with his family by him,” Beth told Today. “We loved him more than words can describe and we still have a very hard time adjusting to him not being here.”

The couple believes that Rocky hold on to meet his sister, before leaving them.

No, we are not crying, you are.
